Basketball and country life

Our arrival at Shuanglong Middle School does not involve the pageantry of Bixu but the schools gates are adorned with the sweaters of student and teacher basketballers. After the welcomes, it’s back into the classroom for us. We’re quite used to classes of 50 or more students now and most of us enjoy the experience.

Afterwards, there’s time to talk informally to students in the sunshine, as Christina does. Then a basketball challenge match is organised between school students and some of the fitter (or more foolhardy) members of our group. The students are generous and the game reasonably close.

Later we visit some local farming families, and the Vocational School, which has its own mushroom and rice wine production enterprises.
