Voices and Visions: Texts for the Senior English Classroom

The Voices and Visions: Texts for the Senior English Classroom CD-ROMs comprise a series of four CD-ROMs (each of which presents authentic and topical materials from an Asian country) for senior secondary students in English classes. It aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and communication through the critical analysis of texts.

The award-winning Voice and Visions from Indonesia and Voices and Visions from China CD-ROMs were distributed to all secondary schools in Australia in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Voices and Visions from Japan, the third in the series, was released and distributed in July 2003. The CD-ROM was sent to the Principal or Senior English Coordinator of all secondary schools, with the exception of government schools in the ACT and Catholic schools in the ACT and Victoria who have their own distribution arrangements.

A professional development programme to support English teachers to incorporate these electronic resources in their senior English courses has been developed. 

Voices and Visions: Texts for the Senior English Classroom Professional Development Programme

The professional development programme aims to support English teachers to incorporate the electronic resources, Voices and Visions CD-ROMs, into their English courses. The programme comprises:

  • an online tutorial
  • a one-day Train-the-Trainer programme which was developed and delivered in each State and Territory in 2002.
