STUDENT WORKSHEET

The King at a Royal ProjectIntroduction

The Thai monarchy has a strong reputation for benevolence and they command great affection and respect. Among the reasons for their popularity and reputation are the Royal Projects. The Thai monarchy initiates and supports agricultural research and development projects. These projects affect the rehabilitation of people and areas through 'model' farms and communities.

One example of the Royal Projects is the Doi Tung Project, in the Chiang Mai area, where efforts are being made to develop sustainable farming and replace the growing of opium crops.
