Teaching Suggestions

Here is an additional activity for teachers to consider using in this unit. In all cases where reference is made to a website teachers should decide whether to download the material and duplicate it for students, or whether to allow students to access the websites themselves.

Introducing Thailand

Students compile a list of features of Thailand, such as population, climate, flag, anthem, language, religions and standard of living, which can all be noted and answered as work on the unit progresses. This provides an overview of Thailand from which students can focus on other units relating to Thailand and will help to provide a clearer context for the more detailed and specific activities.

Students create a display about Thailand on the notice board and add information to it as they go. This could include a map of Thailand, photographs of key places, the Thai flag, a daily weather watch, items from Australian newspapers and so on.
