Teaching Ideas
Here are some additional activities for teachers to use the six Resource sheets in this unit.
Resource Sheet 1 Travelling to Vietnam
- Create a space on a notice board for a map - with images of the flag, currency, scenery and animals of Vietnam, weather maps and forecasts, etc.
Resource Sheet 2 Images of Vietnam
- Write a caption for each illustration, and mix them up. Have students match them.
- Ask students to write two or three key words for each illustration, and use these to create a caption.
- Pin the images to a map of Vietnam - showing where these scenes could be located.
- Ask students to make three statements about the images other than those given.
Resource Sheet 7 Travel brochures: how do they make you want to go to a place?
- Research exercise: identify an area of Vietnam and ask students to gather information about it. Collect brochures and have students compare different travel brochures - are there different types of activities that may appeal to different 'audiences'?
