The Really Big Food Project

A hard-cover, large-format, full-colour primary project book focusing on an investigation of rice. Two students, Emma Barnard and Tom Cho, undertake a class project and along the way discover that rice brings many surprising histories and connections to the countries of Asia.

Via a series of interviews with people in their community and explorations in libraries and on the Internet, Tom and Emma collect Fact Bites, Did You Know information, stories, recipes and anecdotes to enrich their knowledge of rice and its history in our region. In the process they gain a greater understanding of the cultural richness to be found within their own community.

The Really Big Food Project will support SOSE/HSIE, English (literacy) and Health outcomes and has been written by award-winning author and illustrator, Sally Rippin.
