Australia–Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program
Established in 2008, the Australia–Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program is an initiative of the Australia–Indonesia Institute and Asia Education Foundation (AEF). To date, the program has established 189 Australia–Indonesia school partnerships and directly involved over 756 Australian and Indonesian teachers.
This immersive and blended model of professional learning supports school communities across Australia to build an international school partnership with a sister school from Indonesia.

The 2023 BRIDGE School Partnerships will be announced in June 2023.
The Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program connects Australian and Indonesian schools in a structured school partnership to foster international connections and build intercultural understanding. Ten Australian and Indonesian schools (with two educators each) are invited to join the program each year to create new partnerships. In addition, two existing partnerships that have been in the program for over three years are invited to participate with one educator from each school.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Build meaningful connections: Collaborate with a school and educator in Indonesia to create a lasting partnership and build intercultural understanding.
Professional development (virtual): Gain approximately 10 hours of professional development in areas such as cultural competence, design thinking, digital pedagogies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Workplace project: Develop a workplace project with your Indonesian partner school to strengthen education in Indonesia.
Immersive experience: Deepen your partnership and intercultural understanding by hosting your Indonesian partner for a one-week homestay and school visit in Australia.
*Indonesian language ability is not a requirement for Australian teachers to take part in this program, although it can offer added learning outcomes. However, sound English capability is required by Indonesian teachers to participate in the program.

The Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program is an initiative of the Asia Education Foundation and the Australia Indonesia Institute, established in 2008. The program has created 200 school partnerships between Australia and Indonesia, involving over 800 teachers.
This immersive and blended professional learning model supports Australian schools in building international partnerships with Indonesian sister schools.
