Students will have the opportunity to research the history of colonial rule throughout Asia and analyse how artists became catalysts for change and independence through pictorially documenting real-life narratives of everyday people using strong symbols and metaphors drawn from their traditional cultures.
Students could identify the cultural symbolism in the artworks of the three artist featured in this episode and critically analyse how pictorial narratives can be powerful to express emotion and opinion but that the interpretation of this massage may vary given the audience
