Matthew Absalom

Matthew lectures in Italian at The University of Melbourne. He holds qualifications in music, education, Italian and linguistics and is completing doctoral research in the area of Italian phonology. Matthew has taught Italian at secondary and tertiary level for 15 years. He also has extensive experience in professional development for teachers of Italian and languages more generally. He has led a range of study tours to Italy for university students and , teachers of italian and adults, and coordinates study abroad and exchange experiences between The University of Melbourne and Italy. A regular visitor to Italy, Matthew possesses an in-depth knowledge of Italian language and culture. His commitment to languages education can also be seen in his involvement in associations such as MLTASA and MLTAV and media commentary on languages in schools.
