Extension Activity
Create a Word Search
Ask students to choose twelve interesting words from The Really Big Food Project.
Provide some grid paper. Ask students to make up their own word search using these words. Students swap word searches with a partner and solve them.
Suggested follow-up activities
- Visit a local supermarket or Asian grocer
- Find out how many different types of rice the local supermarket or grocer sells.
- What are the names of the brands of rice?
- What countries have the different types / brands of rice come from?
- Favourite rice dish
As a class make a list of rice dishes or food made with rice that students like.
Make a graph of favourite rice dishes or food for the class. Students could ask family members what their favourite dish is and report their findings.
