Pacific Neighbours: Understanding the Pacific Islands

PacificNeighbours

Along with Asia, the countries of the Pacific are geographically Australia's closest neighbours. However many Australians know little about this region. AusAID commissioned the AEF to develop this resource that aims to:

  • support and promote the study of the Pacific in secondary schools, Years 7-10

  • develop teacher and student knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the Pacific

  • engage students with events in the region and understand Australia's role in the Pacific.

Students can develop their knowledge and understanding of the Pacific region, its history and geography, its political and social development, and its people and their cultures.

It is accompanied by a professional learning program for teachers. Contact your state or territory representative for information.
