Presenter Guidelines

This package of three professional learning workshops has been developed for primary and middle years teachers. Each of the workshop sessions is of 90 minutes duration.

Workshop aims

Each of the workshops aim to:

  • Stimulate Arts teachers’ interest in studies of Asia
  • Build awareness of high quality resources that can be used to include the studies of Asia in Arts classrooms
  • Investigate visual text and cultural content using a variety of strategies
  • Develop participants’ ability to ask critical questions in order to assess cultural content
  • Examine the art images in terms of social, cultural, geographic and historical content

Access Asia resources

The Asia Education Foundation (AEF) Access Asia resources used in these workshops provide ideas and activities for including studies of Asia content in an Arts classroom. The three workshops seek to utilise the resources in different ways and explore their potential classroom use. Workshop activities do not duplicate existing published ideas but attempt to position the resource to further support a variety of teaching and learning strategies.

Audience

The targeted audience for these workshops is primary and middle years teachers who teach one or more of The Arts.
