February 2012
A series of one day professional learning programs for participating BRIDGE teachers across Australia are being facilitated to enable networking, sharing of experiences and the development of new tools and strategies to further build BRIDGE partnerships. Read more

On the 9th of January 2012, 17 teachers from across Australia embarked on a 12 day professional learning journey across Java, Indonesia. In the course of their journey they built their knowledge and understandings of Indonesian geography, history, traditions and cultures, religions and contemporary society. Read more

The Asia Education Foundation is pleased to announce that 16 schools have been selected from across Australia to participate in the 2012 Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE Project. The selected Australian schools will initiate partnerships with Indonesian schools drawn from Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Java, Central Java and Yogyakarta, building on the 64 Australia-Indonesia school partnerships established since 2008.
The Australia-Asia School BRIDGE Project was shortlisted in the final 20 projects in the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations – BMW Award for Intercultural Innovation 2011. The only Australian entry to be shortlisted, Australia-Asia BRIDGE ranked 16th out of 400 entries across 70 nations.

Marlborough Primary School teachers Mel Douglas and Kathy McVeigh have incorporated a range of learning and teaching activities to engage their students with learning about Indonesia and their partner school, MIN Cempaka Putih. Up in the Northern Territory, Kormilda College hosted a high-profile visit from their Indonesian partner school SMAN 15 Surabaya.
Meanwhile, Kathe Kirby, Executive Director of the Asia Education Foundation participated in a Skype presentation between Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 (MAN 2) in Jakarta and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Adelaide in Australia to launch their new international class.
August 2011
The Asia Education Foundation has kick-started the Australia-China BRIDGE Project with 24 teachers from Chaoyang District, Beijing and Shandong Province welcomed to Australia for their three-week professional learning program. The Chinese teachers participated in a school and homestay program at their Australian partner schools, building their school partnership and planning for their online collaboration until the Australian teachers reciprocate the visit in January 2012. They felt the homestay and school visit program was an experience to ‘refresh the spirit’

Eight teachers from South Korea were welcomed to Brisbane on 20 July as part of the Australia-Korea BRIDGE Project.
