Australia-India Council
The development and delivery of the Accessing India professional development workshop and the India website have been generously supported by the Australia-India Council (AIC). The Accessing India project was managed by the Asia Education Foundation.

The AIC was established in 1992. Its main functions are to make recommendations to the Australian Government, through the Minister for Foreign Affairs, for the Broadening of the Relationship between Australia and India, with particular emphasis on:

  • raising awareness of Australia in India, and of India in Australia
  • promoting visits and exchanges between the two countries of individuals and groups for the purpose of broadening relations
  • encouraging the development of institutional links
  • supporting Australian studies in India and Indian studies in Australia

Into India
Into India was funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training, the Asia Education Foundation, the Australia-India Council, the National Centre for South Asian Studies and Telstra. It was prepared by the National Centre for South Asian Studies, supported by the Asia Education Foundation.

The Asia Education Foundation
The Asia Education Foundation is a joint activity of Curriculum Corporation and the University of Melbourne's Asialink Centre, and is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training. It seeks to promote teaching and learning about Asia in Australian schools.

Into India is published by Curriculum Corporation as part of the 'Access Asia' series.

Raining Surprises and Exploring India
Raining Surprises and Exploring India were developed by Asialink with the support of the Australia-India Council of the Commonwealth Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Curriculum Corporation acknowledges the cooperation and assistance of Macmillan Education Australia in permitting Raining Surprises and Exploring India to be included in this site. The titles are part of Macmillan's 'Ticket to Asia' series.

Professional Development Program
Short professional development workshops will be available to teachers in each State and Territory to provide additional background about India and assist teachers in using these materials.
