Students' comments on the process
"I did a painting I have never done before and I was really
pleased. Usually I rush my art and this time because I planned
and tested the paint it worked. It will be interesting to see
the exhibition of our work later this year." Male 12 WA
"I took more risks making my art because the teachers
really helped you, I learnt about putting things in the distance
and close up." Female 11 WA
"We learnt about patience and keeping going even when you
were tired." Female 11 Qld
"I did not know about temples and houses in Bali, even
before I read their story I could tell it was a temple from
the shape of the building and the people praying." Male

"I learnt about kids and places in China, their artwork
is really good." Male 10 NT
"By looking at the artwork and stories from other kids
in other countries you can tell what is special to them, just
like we did our special place, they did theirs. Some are the
same, like playing sport, riding your bike and family things.
Other ones are different like the rice fields and the religion
drawings about temples and ceremonies." Female 12 WA
"Sketching, shading and painting and examining other people's
artwork were the best aspects of the Access Asia excursion.
Although we were cramped I was able to produce my final copy
to the best of my ability." Female 13 WA
"During this workshop we made art that will go around
the world. My art improved as I learnt how to blend colours,
make waves and clouds." Male 12 Vic
"My draft was not that good but the teachers thought it
was, so I kept working on the good copy. I included more detail
and concentrated on the use of colour in my best piece."
