School visits

Asia Literacy Ambassadors visit schools either in person or online. You could invite an Asia Literacy Ambassador to your school to:

• discuss a topic your students are studying and in which the Ambassador has special expertise
• share their experience of using Asian language skills and inspire your students to continue language learning
• participate in a careers information session
• contribute to staff professional learning on Asia capabilities
• speak to the wider school community about the importance of engaging with Asia.

Inviting an Asia Literacy Ambassador to your school

What happens next?

• You will receive confirmation that AEF's school business partnerships team has received your request.
• On the form you have provided information about the context and objective of your request, when you would like the Ambassador/s to visit and what you would like them to do. This information is used to explain your request to your preferred Ambassador/s
• You will be informed of their availability as soon as possible. If they are, we will put you in touch with each other. If not, we will approach your second preference.
• Once we have put you in touch with an Ambassador, it is your responsibility to manage the school visit. The School Business Partnerships team is available for support as you need it. You can contact us.

Too far for a face-to-face school visit?

Asia Literacy Ambassadors are usually able to travel up to 50 kilometres for a school visit. They may be able to travel up to 200 kilometres or further, but might require travel reimbursement. If your school is far from the CBD of a capital city, it might be difficult for an Ambassador to visit you in person as most work in capital cities. One option is to arrange an online interaction. You will see on your preferred Ambassador's profile if they are available for virtual interactions.

For a student interaction with an Ambassador, another option is to arrange a workplace visit and incorporate it into a city excursion.
