Asia at a Glance: English

These units are designed for Year 7 to 10 English teachers and centre around nine countries. Each country is represented by three vignettes, or slices of life. These take a variety of forms, including short stories, poetry, journalism, plays, satire, letters, monologues and journal entries.

The ‘Units at a Glance’ table enables teachers to choose an Asian country, a text, a form of writing and an issue that best suits the teaching and learning focus. All exercises follow the same pattern: first impressions, discussion points, aspects of writing, and extension. These are addressed directly to students to encourage independent skills development. The Asia at a Glance CD-ROM can be used in conjunction with these units.
