cover image: Exploring North-East Asia: China, Japan, Korea

This book looks at cultural, historical and environmental aspects of China, Japan and Korea. Students are given fact files on all three countries – plus Australia – and invited to draw comparisons. There are chapters on ancient China, feudal Japan and the main religious beliefs. Other topics covered include water usage in modern Korea and the region’s extinct and endangered species. This book will help students develop a better understanding of the history, geography, cultures and beliefs of people in China, Japan and Korea.

Civics and citizenship education focus: The chapters on ancient China and feudal Japan examine political structures and complement the CCE focus on men and women in political life. The nature of political activity and types of governance are explored in some depth.
