Inspirations
Inspirations consists of 15 colourful, A3-sized cards for the primary and middle years arts classrooms. Each card displays an artwork from the Asian region on one side. On the other side is background information on the piece, the artist and where they come from, along with a rich array of teaching ideas and activities. Inspirations draws on an exciting mix of contemporary, modern and traditional styles. Forms represented include sculpture, calligraphy, photography, watercolour and oil painting, masks and pottery.
Civics and citizenship education focus: Yukinori Yanagi’s Asia-Pacific Ant Farm explores national symbols.
Literacy focus: Card 14, Vasant Ragini, is an example of art grappling with a text such as the Ramayana. Square Word Calligraphy explores the nature of writing as a form. All 15 cards provide opportunities for literacy activities.
