China

  1. Forms of Transport
    This sheet asks students to list the forms of transport they wish to survey in class. They are asked to display their results on the graph provided. The graph is a horizontal bar graph, similar to the one on the website.

    The website graph can be printed when on screen. It is a measure of the total choices submitted by users visiting the forms of transport page and provides relative value only.

  2. Quiz Activity Page
    This activity sheet should be given to students after they have completed the online quiz. The sheet restates the quiz fact file information and provides activities which require them to write and draw answers. The activities focus on developing comparative information and data about Australia and China.

  3. Visiting China
    This activity sheet should be completed by students who are very familiar with the contents of the 'Snapshots of China' big book. You may wish to encourage students to include forms of writing they have encountered recently, for example, rhymes, rebus, recounts or reports.

Japan

  1. School days
    This activity sheets revisits Keiko's school day, presented on page 12 of Snapshots of Japan. The activity sheet enables students to record and compare their school day with that of Keiko's.

    For further teaching and learning activities related to schools, refer to pages 41 to 42 of the Snapshots of Asia Teacher Guide.

  2. Quiz Activity Page
    This activity sheet should be given to students after they have completed the online quiz. The sheet restates the quiz fact file information and provides activities which require them to write and draw answers. The activities focus on developing comparative information and data about Australia and Japan.

  3. Something to celebrate
    This information sheet restates information about the Children's Festival on page 24 of the Snapshots of Japan publication and asks students to design their own celebratory kite for an Australian children's festival.

    Before handing out this sheet it is suggested you re-read pages 24 and 25 of Snapshots of Japan to discuss the symbolism of the carp kite. This should stimulate a brainstorming activity of positive symbols or images which could be incorporated into the students' designs.

    For further resources material relating to symbols and kites refer to the publication "Images" available from Curriculum Corporation.

Korea

  1. School activity
    This sheet asks students to list the activities they wish to survey in class. Then they are asked to display their results on the graph provided. The graph is a horizontal bar graph, similar to the one on the website.

    The questions and activities on this sheet require students to research and record information. The activities lead to extension activities, such as comparing populations of cities (see p. 27 Snapshots of Asia Teacher Guide). Teacher instruction will be required, particularly if students are to make masks.

  3. The Strongest Person in the World
    This student activity sheet requires students to draw an alternative ending to the tale 'The Strongest Person in the World', Snapshots of Asia Teacher Guide, page 70. Students should be familiar with the original story.

    On completing the alternative ending, students could share their new stories in pairs or small groups.

It is suggested that students use coloured paper and glue to construct their own mosaic.

  3. Thailand Poem
    This activity sheet should be completed by students who are familiar with the information in Snapshots of Asia Thailand. Using the structure of the poem 'Spare Time', this activity requires students to write a poem about Thailand.

    This activity sheet should be completed by students who are familiar with Snapshots of Asia Vietnam and have some experience in drawing maps. The activity sheet requires students to draw a map of Vietnam, labelling cities and rivers.
