A Thai Journey offers fresh insight into many facets of life in contemporary Thailand. Ancient cities, a living tradition of Buddhist practice and the world's oldest surviving monarchy contrast with rapid urbanisation and a thriving tourist industry. Never colonised, Thailand has retained its cultural identity despite external influences and the tempo of resource development. A Thai Journey provides practical and innovative classroom materials and background information for teachers, as well as detailed teaching and learning activities containing strands, outcomes and suggested student activities. This site has been developed to supplement and enrich the materials and teaching strategies in the book A Thai Journey. The ideas and resources here should be used in association with the units in the book.
SponsorsA Thai Journey was funded by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) with the support of the Asia Education Foundation to promote a greater understanding of Thailand and its people.TAT is a state enterprise of the Royal Thai Government and works closely with the many government and private offices of all sectors of the tourism industry. The Asia Education Foundation managed the development of A Thai Journey, which is published by Curriculum Corporation as part of the 'Access Asia' series. The Asia Education Foundation is a joint activity of Curriculum Corporation and The University of Melbourne's Asialink Centre and is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training. It seeks to promote teaching and learning about Asia in Australian schools. AcknowledgmentsAcknowledgments for Illustrators and Writers on this site.
