English Curriculum strands

The content of the Australian Curriculum: English is organised into three interrelated strands: Language, Literature and Literacy.

  • Language strand focuses on knowing about the English language.
  • Literature strand focuses on understanding, appreciating, responding to, analysing, and creating literature. This strand is easily accessible for teachers to include Asia opportunities.
  • Literacy strand develops students' ability to interpret and create texts.
