Intercultural capabilities and cultural diversity in the curriculum
On 21 March, Brendan Hitchens and Satoshi Sanada from the Asia Education Foundation and Jan Molloy from Immigration Museum, led a conversation offering perspectives from primary and secondary classrooms to consider representation and reflections of cultural diversity in the classroom materials.
Responding to the following questions the panel interrogated texts, movies, music, incursions, and excursions.
- Who writes the stories?
- Who benefits from the stories?
- Who is missing from the stories?
The discussion focused on the Victorian Curriculum: Intercultural Capabilities domain and consider how it can be integrated across the curriculum.
