HarvestEd content will be broken into four distinct phases of learning.
Learning activities are structured with these 4 phases as overarching themes.
Students will explore those four phases through a hybrid course of 3 online sessions and a face-to-face conference at a choice of: - University of Melbourne Parkville (Thursday 13th June, 2024) - University of Melbourne Dookie (Thursday 20th June, 2024)
Past, Present and Future Farming: Participants will look at the past, present and future of agriculture in Victoria, Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. They will focus on agricultural trends and predictions, including new technologies and innovations such as Precision Technology, Vertical Farming, Bio-Science, Robots and Drones.
Connecting Communities: Participants will examine Victoria’s connection to the world, including its biggest agricultural imports and exports and trading partners, particularly those in the Asia region. They will hear from industry experts and have the opportunity to ask them questions.
Seeding Change: Participants will identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that exist in the agricultural industry. They will explore big questions such as: 'By 2050 we’ll need to feed two billion more people. How can we do that without overwhelming the planet?'
Harvesting Potential: Using design thinking, participants will prototype solutions to issues, which may include population growth, scarcity of natural resources, climate change and food security and wastage, all helping you make better sense of this interdependent world by fostering awareness and action on global citizenship.

This workshop will introduce curriculum frameworks and classroom resources for intercultural understanding
Year 7 - 9 students from across Victoria, especially regional and rural students. up to 20 students per school, with 1 teacher supervising.
3 x 2.5 hour sessions delivered online in Term 2 - and one-day f-2-f conference at a choice of 2 campus at The University of Melbourne.
A hybrid program delivered online and f-2-f in multiple venues to support flexibility and reduce barriers to participation.
Participation in this program is free for all schools in Victoria thanks to support from The William Buckland Foundation.
