BRIDGE International School Partnerships Program

Building Relationships through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement (BRIDGE)

Our flagship teacher professional development program for over 10 years, the Australia Asia-Pacific BRIDGE School Partnerships Program offers a unique opportunity for schools to equip their students to be ready for the world.

BRIDGE is an international program that establishes school partnerships between students, teachers and school communities. BRIDGE students collaborate on projects, practice language skills and develop life long friendships with students at their partner school.

Through the use of a blended model of teacher professional learning, face-to-face, online learning and an international homestay program with partner schools BRIDGE supports teachers to use technologies to open their classrooms to the world.

BRIDGE develops students to be global citizens who have:

  • deeper intercultural understanding
  • real-life digital capability
  • new knowledge of Asia and Australia
  • strengthened language skill

Core phases of BRIDGE

1. Establishing partnerships 2. Building teacher capacity 3. Supporting partnerships

  • AEF partners with education jurisdictions across the region to identify and partner schools and teachers.

  • Online and face-to-face professional learning comprises webinars, reciprocal in-country workshops (in Australia and Asia), school visits and homestays.

  • Ongoing support to school partnerships is provided through access to AEF, BRIDGE community of practice and curriculum resources to support classroom collaboration.
