The Hangang River is a dominant feature of the Korean landscape. In this image you will explore some of the ways that the Hangang River impacts on the lives of those who live near it, and its recreational, economic, environmental and historic importance.

Korea is a highly industralised country. This image explores an aspect of industrialisation in Korea. The huge industrial complex at Ulsan is one of the largest and most productive industrial areas in Korea. The image shows an aerial view of the Hyundai industrial complex in Ulsan and explores industrialisation in Korea.

In the major cities in Korea, skyscrapers including office buildings and modern apartment blocks dominate the landscape. This image shows a famous building often known as the 'Samsung Building', named after the company that built it. You will also explore many other famous buildings and skyscrapers in Korea.

Jangseung, or 'spirit poles' or 'guardian posts', are unique wooden or stone sculptures that are a special part of Korean culture. Through this image you will be able to find out about aspects of Korean folk art and traditions that are being preserved today.
