Student activities

  1. Invitation
    Take a look at the wedding invitation for Rani's sister to see what types of information are included. Print out the PDF and make your own invitation to a celebration.

  2. Tour of India Board Game
    Design your own Tour of India Board Game using the PDF printout. Aim for 12 different locations. Try one of the following themes to link your journey:

    • Food - trying different dishes of food at each location.
    • Nature - photographing the different flora and fauna you would see at each location.
    • Architecture - visiting various built or natural features at each location.
    • Ceremonies - attending different ceremonies held at each location.
    • Games or leisure activities - participating in different events at each location.
  3. Map of India 
    This map can be used for the suggested activities in the India book teacher guide, or for locating and labelling towns, cities and other geographic features. It can be copied onto an overhead transparency and projected as an enlarged version to be used in front of the class.

  4. Sari Tying 
    Read how Rani bargains for a sari for her sister in the India book. Then print out the PDF and follow Rani's instructions to learn how to tie a sari.

  5. Favourite Activities 
    Look at the graph of favourite activities for Rani's class in the India book. Ask the students to conduct their own class survey and fill in the blank vertical bar graph on the PDF printout.

  6. India: Ten Minute Quiz 
    A quiz based on information in the India book.
