Provides access to an electronic version of the national policy statement, which supports the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians. The national statement identifies the broad knowledge, understanding, values and skills required to engage with Asia in the context of existing policies and practices in teaching and learning.
Provides access to the declared set of goals that outline the direction for Australian schooling, from 2008 through to 2018, with the aim to improve educational outcomes for all young Australians.
Provides further information on the $62.4 million of Australian Government funding provided through the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program (NALSSP). The Becoming Asia Literate: Grants to Schools is one component of the NALSSP initiative.
Appropriate resources and support may be available through relevant government and non-government education sectors and professional associations.
