National Statement for Engaging Young Australians with Asia in Australian Schools
Engaging Young Australians with Asia in Australian Schools is a national policy statement approved by the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA). The Statement supports The Adelaide Declaration on National Goals for Schooling in the Twenty-First Century that promotes understanding of the value of cultural and linguistic diversity, and students possessing the knowledge, understanding, values and skills to contribute to, and benefit from, such diversity in the Australian community and internationally.
The Statement identifies the broad knowledge, understandings, values and skills required to engage with Asia in the context of existing policies and practices in teaching and learning.
The Statement is supported by a professional learning program and a teacher/school resource to assist its implementation.
