This program is an initiative of the Victorian Department of Education facilitated by Asia Education Foundation at the University of Melbourne. All Victorian high school student places are fully-funded by the Victorian Department of Education.
The Connect Global Youth Forum is a virtual one-day event that brings together young people from Victorian schools with their peers from schools in the Asia-Pacific.
Students will connect and work together to examine a locally-relevant issue that has impacts locally and is globally-connected. Through real-life, meaningful and authentic interaction with peers, students will explore how that issue affects different communities, the diversity of impacts, and potential actions they can take to have a positive impact.
The perfect opportunity for your young leaders in Yr 10 - 12, SRC group, students interested in global learning and global citizenship.
Priority will be given to VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT schools and schools in REGIONAL Victoria.
Before each forum the cohort of 100 participants will decide the specific local issue they wish to explore with their peers. During the live, synchronous forum, Asia Education Foundation will facilitate activities that encourage collaboration, discussion and intercultural understanding with the goal of promoting engagement and global citizenship.
The forum will be held 4 times throughout Term 3 and 4. Schools have a choice of 1-day forum date to attend and to attend a 1-hour pre-forum introduction.

Each school can register up to a maximum of 10 students in 1 of the days.
A 1-hour pre-forum introduction session will be held prior to the forum to provide students with the opportunity to consider issues of local significance that interest them.
PLEASE NOTE: A supervising teacher from the school must attend the live forum on ZOOM with their students and actively participate and supervise their students throughout the day.
Open to all Victorian High School Students. Priority for government and regional schools.
This forum will be delivered online via Zoom.
With funding from the Victorian Department of Education, participation in this forum is free for all Victorian schools.

Learning outcomes
As a result of their participation students will:
appreciate and understand what it means to be a global citizen by critically interacting with the concept of globalisation, comparing diverse perspectives of globalisation, and identifying the ways that globalisation influences their life.
deepen their understanding of the impacts of globalisation on education systems/policies by identifying key issues in education today, and identifying the bias and influences that shape their worldview, and their role in shaping global citizenship.
strengthen their awareness of their own biases and the biases of others and recognise that this awareness is needed to overcome harmful divisions and create inclusive communities; and
identify ways they can respond to divisive views and behaviours and the role they can play in making their vision for the local and global community a reality.
