Global Goals Youth Forum

As a participant of this forum, Queensland students will use the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as the basis to explore local and global issues relating to Climate Action. They will research neighbouring Pacific Island Nations such as Papua New Guinea and New Zealand to compare environmental issues including climate change, pollution, environmental degradation and resource depletion.

Closely linked to the PISA 2018 Global Competence, students will understand and appreciate the perspectives and world views of others and take action for collective wellbeing and sustainable development.

Connecting students from across Queensland regions, participants will use design thinking processes and metacognitive tools to collaboratively prototype and pitch innovative solutions to the environmental problems they are passionate about.

They will hear from, and work alongside, guest speakers involved in the innovation, entrepreneurship and climate action space and seek feedback and next steps on their ideas.

This online forum will be delivered using the Queensland Department of Education endorsed virtual classroom platform - iSee. Students will enhance their Technology skills through the use of program features such as; creating collaborative content using smart boards, voting on issues using traffic light polls, discussing and debating topics using chat functions, using webcam and spatial audio features for team interaction, sharing and reflection.

All participants in the program will receive a pre-forum workbook including offline and a-synchronous learning activities and resources.
