bio

Patrick has researched, taught and written extensively about the histories and cultures of South East and North East Asia since 1987. He authored Studies of Asia for Heinemann and contributed chapters of other texts on the Khmer Empire and China's relations with Australia. Since 1995, he has worked for a number of development agencies and commercial consulting firms in health; harm reduction for drug users; capacity building; human rights; prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS and other diseases; rural development; aviation; and banking and finance. He is fluent in Vietnamese and has 18 years' experience in Vietnam as well as stints in Lao, India, Russia, Cambodia and Japan.
