bio

Michael has had a close connection with Japan for more than 25 years, ever since he first visited the country as a high school exchange student with Youth for Understanding. Michael’s professional background spans policy development in the Australian Public Service, interpreting and translating, public diplomacy and business. Michael has visited many countries in the Asia Pacific region in a professional capacity. He also spent a total of 13 years of his working life in Japan, including 5 years at the Australian Embassy, Tokyo. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (Japanese and Asian Studies) and is a Japan-trained interpreter and translator.
