Carly has had a close connection with Japan for more than 15 years, ever since she first visited the country as a high school student on the Rotary Youth Exchange program. Carly studied a Bachelor of Japanese and International Business, during which time she returned to Japan to complete a marketing internship in Tokyo. After graduating, she participated in the Japanese Government's JET program as a Coordinator of International Relations and Prefectural Advisor for 2 years. She was based at the Ibaraki Prefectural Office in Mito, a regional town about 100km from Tokyo. She then joined AB, a global wealth management group, in their Tokyo office in 2007, and returned to work in their Australian office in 2010 as Manager for Marketing Communications after a total of 7 years living, studying and working in Japan. Carly now works at Martin Currie, an asset management company. Carly has travelled widely throughout Asia and studied for a semester in Thailand. She is looking forward to inspiring the students of today about where studying an Asia language can take them in their career.
