bio

Alex is a Senior Legal Officer on the Public Interest Advocacy Centre's International Crimes Evidence Project, which conducts objective, independent investigations into serious alleged violations of international law in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to this, Alex worked at DFAT for over seven years, including two years as Executive Officer in the ASEAN and East Asia Summit Section and two years as First Secretary (Political) at the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste. Alex studied Indonesian at university and was trained to working-level fluency in Timor-Leste's official languages, Tetum and Portuguese, prior to her diplomatic posting with DFAT. She lived in Sri Lanka for one year, working at Colombo University's Centre for the Study of Human Rights, and reached conversational level proficiency in Sinhalese during her time there.
