Lighthouse Partnership Program 2021 Application


Through the Lighthouse Partnership Program (LPP), the Asia Education Foundation (AEF) is seeking to acknowledge and profile high performing BRIDGE School Partnerships to provide examples of best practise to support other BRIDGE schools to improve their own partnership plans. 

Each successful partnership will be awarded Lighthouse Partnership (LP) status as a formal recognition of their outstanding partnership achievements to-date as well as finical support to and to further assist both schools in the partnership to carry out the additional activities expected of them in their role as LP schools.  

The benefits include:

  • A budget to support LP activities (up to AU$5,000) 
  • A budget to deliver a whole-of-school development training (up to AU$3,400) 
  • A support visit from the BRIDGE team to the Australian and Indonesian schools (pending COVID-19) 
  • Additional support as agreed in the grant agreement

The 2021-2022 application round is the last round for this opportunity. 

We encourage BRIDGE schools to submit an application in collaboration with your partner teacher/school and seek guidance from the BRIDGE team at AEF. Please be aware the application form involves both the:   

  • Proposal narrative (how and why the grant and whole-of-school development training will benefit and support your partnership) AND;        
  • Financial proposal for the use of grant funds (up to AU$5,000 + AU$3,400) 

Eligibility: 

  • All active Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships which have been established for at least 2 years.
  • Active lead teachers who have been, or will be, in regular communication with their partner schools to coordinate collaborative activities.
  • Partnerships who received a Competitive Grant Support and have submitted their completion reports are eligible to apply. 

Selection criteria: 
When applying for the LPP, both schools in the partnership must be able demonstrate at least three of the following: 

  • Implementation of new practice from Professional Learning Program or other partnership activities 
  • Active engagement with BRIDGE e.g. Participation in BRIDGE Educator Workshops 
  • Involvement of non-BRIDGE educators in partnership activities 
  • Support of the Principal and school management for the partnership 
  • Active knowledge sharing within the school 

Objectives:
By being awarded a Lighthouse Partnership status, the expected outcomes for a successful partnership are as follow: 

  1. Embed the partnership throughout the school:  

    • Involve additional educators, the wider student body and school management in the partnership; 

    • Promote the sharing and adoption of new practices by educators throughout the school; and 

    • Conduct an exchange visit (teachers and/or students) pending travel restrictions.

  2. Share knowledge with other schools about new practices and how to improve school partnerships: 

    • Host Educator Workshops for schools in the local area;

    • Actively provide support and information to other BRIDGE School Partnerships with the support of AEF; and

    • Create knowledge based materials for sharing such as interactive lesson plans.

  3. Raise awareness of school partnerships amongst stakeholders: 

    • Present learnings from the school partnership experience to local government;

    • Host visits by VIPs, local governments and potential donors to the school to showcase partnership activities (pending COVID-19); and 

    • Promote the BRIDGE School Partnerships Program to other schools within your network. 

Application process:

  1. To assist in the application process, the BRIDGE team will hosted a CGS and LPP Information Webinar on 10 August 2021. Watch the recording here.
  2. Review the terms and conditions of the Lighthouse Partnership Program. 
  3. Discuss this opportunity with your partner teacher/school and develop your proposal for the use of the grant.
  4. Applications are available in both offline and online formats pending the preference of each partnership. Should you wish to utilise an offline application form please download the application form from the online application and submit via sending to bridge@asialink.unimelb.edu.au. Should you wish to utilise the online application, finalised, please submit via the online application. Only one application is required per partnership. Please reach out to the BRIDGE team should you have challenges with submitting an online application. 
  5. BRIDGE will then assess the applications and be in contact for further information and to advise of your application result.

Applications close 15 September 2021 with successful schools to be contacted in early October 2021.
