What is an Asia-focused Technologies curriculum?
The Australian Curriculum for Technology provides opportunities for students to learn explicit content about Asia.
In the Australian Curriculum: Technologies the priority of Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia provides diverse and authentic contexts to develop knowledge and understanding of technologies processes and production and related cultural, social and ethical issues.
It enables students to recognise that interaction between human activity and the diverse environments of the Asia region continues to create the need for creative solutions and collaboration with others, including Australians, and has significance for the rest of the world.
From Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia: Technologies.
The Australian Curriculum for Technologies is comprised of two distinct subjects, as defined by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) below:
- Design and Technologies, in which students use design thinking and technologies to generate and produce designed solutions for authentic needs and opportunities.
- Digital Technologies, in which students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement digital solutions.
