Noble Park English Language School school visit
AEF Asia Literacy Ambassador Daniel Ednie-Lockett visited Noble Park English Language School in February 2015 to speak to the school’s teachers about language learning. Daniel is fluent in both Japanese and Chinese. He has worked as a news reporter and travel show host for Jiangsu Television and has even appeared on the Chinese dating show 'If you are the one'.
Drawing out on his personal experience of language learning, Daniel talked about the importance of confidence in one’s language learning journey as well as personal and emotional connections with the language, native speakers and the country(ies).
Through this school visit, teachers were prompted to reflect on their own language learning experience and share stories, good and bad, making the afternoon an entertaining professional learning activity.
Students at Noble Park English Language School are recently arrived migrants and refugees, for the most part from Asian countries, who usually stay at the school around 6 months to a year until they can join mainstream schools.
Note: AEF Go Global Programs refer to the suite of student engagement initiatives that include the program formally known as School Business Partnerships. Asia Literacy Ambassadors, as a result, are now referred to as Go Global Ambassadors.
